TAMPA BAY â The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm will host a screening of the new film The Longest Yard at AMC Veterans Expressway 24 this Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m.
The entire team will be at the screening and will sign autographs at the conclusion of the film. The following day the team will depart for Atlanta where they will take on the Georgia Force in the National Conference Divisional Playoffs.
The Storm had four members directly involved with the shooting of the movie. OL/DL Nyle Wiren, WR/DB Clif Dell and kicker Matt George all appear as football players in the movie. Offensive coordinator Pat O'Hara served as head of all football operations.
Wiren served as the body double for former professional wrestler Steve Austin, and also performed numerous stunts for the movie. O'Hara worked behind the scenes, helping to find and hire all of the athletes for the movie. He also assisted in designing the plays that were run in the movie. Additionally, he assisted in coaching Adam Sandler for his role as a quarterback in the movie.
The Longest Yard stars Sandler, Chris Rock, Nelly, Michael Irvin, Bill Romanowski and Chris Berman.
The theatre is located at 9302 Anderson Road in Tampa. The movie is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, and $5 for children ages 2-12.
