Greenville Tops Legends 6-2

Jalen Beeks allowed six hits and one run in seven innings as the Greenville Drive posted a 6-2 win over the Lexington Legends Saturday night in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Legends took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on singles by Wander Franco, Brandon Downes and Alexis Rivera, but the Drive tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second.

Greenville took the lead for good in the third on a triple by Mike Meyers and a single by Javier Guerra.

The Drive pulled away with four runs in the sixth. Cisco Tellez led off with a double, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Joseph Monge and scored on a passed ball. Bryan Hudson then drew a walk, stole second base and scored on a base hit by David Sopilka. Sopilka advanced to second on a ground out by Yoan Moncada and to third on a single by Danny Mars. Sopilka and Mars came home on Rafael Devers' double, and the Drive led 6-1.

The Legends added a final run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Corey Toups.

Beeks (9-4) got the win. Legends starter Foster Griffin (0-5) took the loss after allowing two runs on seven hits in five innings. He struck out six batters and walked two.

The Drive have won two out of three in the series, which concludes Sunday. Game time is 4:05 p.m.
