Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - The Rome Braves topped the Augusta GreenJackets Saturday night 4-1 at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 3,230.
Rome jumped out to an early lead on a Wigberto Nevarez two RBI single in the bottom of the first inning for the 2-0 lead, which would prove to be all the run needed for the night. The Braves added an insurance run in their half of the second inning on Omar Obregon's RBI single to extend their lead to 3-0. Augusta pushed across their lone run in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI groundout by Dylan Davis to cut the score to 3-1 but Rome pushed the lead back to three on Connor Oliver's RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth for the final 4-1 score.
Touki Toussaint (3-2) gets the win while D.J. Snelten (3-3) is tagged with the loss. Evan Phillips notched his first save of the season.
The Braves and the GreenJackets continue their series tomorrow at 2 p.m. For information contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log on to www.romebraves.com.
