WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - A pair of home runs cost the Hudson Valley Renegades in an 8-1 loss to the Greenville Drive on Thursday night at Dutchess Stadium.

Greenville struck first in the top of the fourth inning against Hudson Valley starter Beck Way. Niko Kavadas launched a two-run homer to center to give the Drive a 2-0 lead.

The Renegades answered in the bottom of the fifth inning against Drive starter Ryan Zeferjahn. Eduardo Torrealba singled to left, scoring Aaron Palensky from second to trim the deficit to 2-1.

Greenville added insurance the top of the sixth. Nicholas Northcut smashed his third homer off the series, a two-run blast to left, to lengthen the lead to 4-1.

Way (4-5) completed six innings, allowing four runs on five hits, walking two and striking out seven.

The Drive tacked three more in the top of the eighth. Antoni Flores and Phillip Sikes banged RBI singles with the bases loaded to create a 7-1 cushion.

In the top of the ninth, Nathan Hickey lifted a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 8-1. In the bottom, Cody Scroggins set the Renegades down to close out the game

Hudson Valley continues its series with Greenville on Friday night at Dutchess Stadium. RHP Yoendrys Gomez (1-1, 2.32) toes the slab for the Renegades, while the Drive counter with RHP Yusniel Padron-Artiles (3-8, 6.29).
