'Dads Defeat Wilmington 6-2

Hickory, NC- The Crawdads pulled out a 6-2 victory over the Wilmington Blue Rocks in a game that got a damp start.

Wilmington took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, getting a run off of Ricky Vanasco. Vanasco recorded an out in the second inning before a storm moved through the area and put the game in a nearly 2-hour delay.

The game resumed after 9pm and remained 1-0 until the sixth inning. Luisangel Acuña knocked his eighth homerun of the year to tie the game up.

The Crawdads kept the momentum going into the seventh inning as they erupted for five runs. Cody Freeman walked, and Angel Aponte singled to put runners on the corners. Frainyer Chavez drew a walk, loading the bases. Keyber Rodriguez singled to center, clearing the bases. A throwing error allowed Rodriguez to take third. Randy Florentino kept things going with a walk. A wild pitch scored the fourth run of the inning. Aaron Zavala hit a triple to dead center to cap off the rally and give the 'Dads a 6-1 lead.

Wilmington managed an unearned run in the eighth inning, but the Crawdads closed it out, winning 6-2.

The series will continue tomorrow night as the Couch Potatoes return to action. It will also be Thirsty Thursday presented by Fyreside Taproom and Focus News. It will also be a Peoples Bank Thursday.
