
Greensboro Swarm Defeated by Capital City Go-Go

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, fell to the Capital City Go-Go (Washington Wizards affiliate) 116-109 on Saturday at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. The Swarm slide to 2-2 overall in the regular season while Capital City improve to 4-1.
Three Hornets players were on assignment to the Swarm and the trio had strong contributions. JT Thor secured his second double-double in a Greensboro uniform, scoring 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting to go with 12 rebounds and two blocks in 33 minutes. James Bouknight had a game-high 24 points along with four rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes. Kai Jones finished with 17 points, five rebounds and four blocks in 29 minutes.
Unfortunately for the home team, the Go-Go's balanced offense, attack on the rim and fast break points made the difference in the competitive game. Capital City had seven players score in double figures, including the starting five. Overall they shot 49 percent from the field, which was boosted by 74 points in the paint. In transition, the Go-Go outscored Greensboro 22-7 on fast break points.
The game was even at half (65-65) but the third quarter was all Capital City. The Go-Go outscored Greensboro by 12 in the frame and the lead was built in the first few minutes of the quarter. The Swarm was held to 35 percent shooting in the quarter.
The Swarm made several runs in the fourth quarter but timely baskets from the Go-Go or turnovers stalled the comeback attempt. Greensboro pulled within two-scores of the visitors, all in the final two minutes of the game, however Capital City free throws sealed the game.
Double digit scorers for the Go-Go included Jaime Echenique (22 points, 13 rebounds), Jordan Goodwin (22 points, eight rebounds), Joel Ayayi (12 points, five assists), Greg Monroe (13 points, four assists), Jordan Schakel (11 points, six assists), Isaiah Todd (10 points, five rebounds) and Pat Spencer (10 points).
Joining the assignment players with 10-plus point performances for Greensboro was Joe Chealey (10 points, six rebounds, five assists).
The two sides are set to play again at a special 1:00 p.m. ET matinee on Monday, January 17, at the Fieldhouse.
