
Greensboro Shuts Out Charlotte 1-0

(Charlotte, North Carolina â Friday, January 23 ) The Charlotte Checkers gave it a spirited fight but absorbed their third consecutive shutout falling to the Greensboro Generals 1-0 Friday night at Cricket Arena. Mark Turner's goal 1:28 into the game was the lone goal of the contest and Generals' goalie Jamie Hodson made 22 saves to earn the shutout. Greensboro won its' fourth straight game while Charlotte lost its fourth straight and fell to 0-5-1 in its last six games. In suffering three consecutive shutouts, the Checkers tied a team record from the 2000-01 season. Charlotte has gone three games and 230 minutes with out scoring.
"We saw a solid game from both goaltenders tonight," remarked Checkers Coach Don MacAdam. "The guys are trying to score but sometimes you get a little tense rather than letting the game unfold. We have to give credit to the other team too. Greensboro is a solid team and Hodson is an excellent goaltender. We all tend to focus on the negatives but there were some positive out there for us tonight."
The Checkers record fell to 18-17-5 for 41 points and Charlotte remains in sixth place in the Southern Division. Greensboro saw their record improve to 25-17-1 for 51 points. The Checkers will continue their three-game homestand Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Cricket Arena when the Greenville Grrrowl will come to Charlotte.

Individual game tickets for the 2003-04 season are priced at $7.00 for balcony seats, $10.00 for end mezzanine seats, $12.00 for side mezzanine seats, $15.00 for circle seats, and $20.00 for box seats.
