Erie SeaWolves News Release

The SeaWolves made a late charge but it wasn't enough as they dropped the second game of a four-game series to the Harrisburg Senators, 5-3 on Saturday night.

The Senators jumped ahead in the second against Erie starter Chad Green. Shawn Pleffner led off with a single but was erased at second on a fielder's choice off the bat of Pedro Severino. With two outs, Issac Ballou doubled home Severino for a 1-0 lead.

In the third, Brain Goodwin led off with a triple. With one out and the infield in, Drew Vettleson sent a ground ball to short. On the play, an error by Alberto Gonzalez, who dropped the ball before throwing to the plate, allowed Goodwin to score for a 2-0 lead.

The Sens extended the lead to 3-0 in the fourth. Adrian Sanchez led off with a single and moved into scoring position on an error. Sanchez advanced to third on a flyout and scored on a fielder's choice.

Harrisburg added two additional runs in the sixth when Goodwin clobbered a two-run home run off of reliever Matt Crouse to make it 5-0.

All of the SeaWolves runs came in the top of the eighth. Nick Lee spelled starter Richard Bleier. Bleier went seven shutout, allowing just two hits. Wynton Bernard led off and reached on an error. Connor Harrell singled putting two on with one out for Tony Thomas. Thomas singled home Bernard making it 5-1. Dean Green was then hit by a pitch, loading the bases for Jason Krizan. The Senators went back to the pen and summoned Abel De Los Santos. Krizan sent a rocket to right but was robbed of an extra base hit by a diving Vettleson. On the play, Harrell scored making it 5-2. Miguel Gonzalez finished the Erie scoring with an RBI double, plating Thomas making it 5-3.

Green (2-12) was a tough luck loser again as he allowed four runs, two earned, on nine hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work. Erie has scored three runs or fewer in 13 of Green's 17 starts.
