Harrisburg Senators News Release
Brian Goodwin hit a two-run home run and Richard Bleier threw seven scoreless innings as the Harrisburg Senators beat the Erie Seawolves, 5-3, in front of 6,393 fans at Metro Bank Park Saturday. With the win, Harrisburg (44-45) evened the series at one apiece with two games remaining.
Richard Bleier continued his incredible run of pitching at Metro Bank Park, by allowing just two hits in seven scoreless innings. The left-hander is now 5-0 in six starts at home this season, and although he struck out just one batter, Bleier walked none and induced 13 groundballs. However, Senators' reliever Nick Lee struggled in the eighth inning, allowing three runs on two hits in a third of an inning. Abel De Los Santos, who allowed two of Lee's runners to score, limited the damage in the eighth before working a scoreless ninth inning to earn his fifth save of the season.
The Senators offense supported Bleier early by scoring a single run in the second, third and fourth innings. Isaac Ballou opened the scoring with an RBI double. Then in the third, Goodwin tripled and then scored on an Erie error and in the fourth Chris Bostick scored Adrian Sanchez with an RBI fielder's choice. Harrisburg carried its 3-0 lead into the sixth when Cutter Dykstra and Chris Bostick singled ahead of Brian Goodwin. However, Dykstra was thrown out a third on a double steal, but Goodwin followed with a two-run home run to extend Harrisburg's lead to five.
Five different Senators had two hits, including Goodwin, Bostick, Shawn Pleffner and Adrian Sanchez. Cutter Dykstra also reached three times with a hit and two walks.
The Senators will send Dakota Bacus to the mound Sunday in game three of the four-game set. First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m and the pregame show will begin at 1:15 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
