APPLEBEE'S PARK (Lexington, KY) - While some debate how much one man can impact a team, Ramon Corona put the GreenJackets over the top Friday night in convincing fashion. After being hit by a pitch in the first inning, Corona filled the stat sheets with his three homeruns and emptied the bases for the Augusta GreenJackets. Despite a four-run fourth, the Legends couldn' t keep the bats hot and fell 9-4.

After being hit by a pitch in the first inning, Corona went on a tear through Applebee's Park finishing with three HRs, 5 RBI and a triple in four at-bats. The Legends scored their four runs off of six hits, but the bullpen gave up eight runs in four innings in the loss.

Hits for both teams were hard to find in the first three innings. With nine strikeouts through three innings, both pitchers found their groove and were hurling some unhittable offerings. Legends starter Sergio Severino (1-0) pitched five innings with six strikeouts, two hits and one earned run.

Corona broke up the pitching party to lead off the fourth with the first hit of the game, a home run deep over left field. Severino recovered and sent Augusta's Nick Noonan whiffing and ended the inning on groundouts.

The Legends would answer back in the bottom of the fourth as Matt Cusick yanked the momentum to the back to the Legends with a stand-up triple. Craig Corrado's single then sent Cusick jogging in from third to knot up the game. Kevin Carkeek stepped to the plate with one out and drove a ball past a fumbling second baseman Nick Noonan that scored Collin DeLome.

Augusta then switched to reliever Daniel Turpin two on the corners. Turpin struck out Roberto Mena chasing a breaking ball before giving up an RBI single to Legends catcher Jonathan Fixler.

With Corona on deck to start the sixth, Lexington handed the ball to reliever Brett Robinson. Corona sent a moonshot over the left field fence to bring the game within two. Nick Noonan then sent a ball into no-man's land in left field, reaching second base. Noonan scored before a GreenJacket ground out to hold the Legends lead at 4-3.

After holding the Legends in the fifth, Ramon Corona stepped into the box with two outs. Corona knocked in a runner with an RBI triple, leading the Legends to send Jordan Powell to the mound for a fresh look. Nick Noonan then batted in Corona from third before being sent home himself by designated hitter Garrett Baker's home run. Third baseman Andrew Davis threatened to score after he stretched a triple, but Nick Moresi's pop-up catch in center stopped the GreenJackets run at four runs.

After a scoreless rain-delayed eighth, the pressure was on to hold the Jackets for a bottom of the ninth rally, but Corona had other plans. With a man on first, Ramon Corona sent his third homerun of the night 420 feet to extend the lead to the final of 9-4.

First pitch was at 7:06.

Tomorrow, it's the second of three promotions by Hasbro, where the first 250 kids that enter the ballpark receive a free Transformers figurine. Hasbro is hosting BotCon at nearby Cincinnati in two weeks.
