GreenJackets Build Early Lead in 12-1 Win over Legends

(AUGUSTA, Ga.) The Augusta GreenJackets opened up an eight-run lead after four innings and went on to a 12-1 win over the Lexington Legends Friday night.

In the second inning, Skyler Ewing singled with one out and scored on Jeremy Sy's two-out triple. An error by center fielder Alfredo Escalera on a fly ball hit by Johneshwy Fargas allowed Sy and Callway to score, giving Augusta a 3-0 lead. Fargas stole third and came home on a throwing error by catcher Chad Johnson.

The GreenJackets added four more runs in the fourth. Sy led off with a single and stole second base with one out. After Fargas was hit by a pitch, Travious Relaford's infield single loaded the bases. Cristian Paulino doubled home two runs, and Aramis Garcia followed with a two-run single.

Relaford hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 9-0.

The Legends scored their only run in the top of the sixth. Escalera led off with a single and moved to second on a wild pitch. He advanced to third on a ground out by Ryan O'Hearn and scored on an infield single by Elier Hernandez.

Augusta added three more runs in the eighth on RBI hits by Jonah Arenado and Will Callaway and a run-scoring ground out by Sy.

Each team has won one game in the series, which continues Saturday. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
