Savannah, GA - The Greenville Drive's (31-24) hold on first place in the Southern Division is shrinking, as they were stymied by the Savannah Sand Gnats in a 4-0 defeat on Friday night, dropping their division lead over the Sand Gnats to just three games.

Scarlyn Reyes (5-4) twirled seven shutout innings for Savannah in the game, allowing only three hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Ben Griset followed with two scoreless innings of his own to preserve the shutout.

The Sand Gnats got the only run they would need in the bottom of the first, striking for three singles against Drive starter Jalen Beeks (5-2), with the third single of the RBI variety by Jon Leroux.

Tomas Nido extended that lead to 2-0 in the fourth inning by cranking a solo homer to left field.

Another Savannah homer, this one off the bat of Wuilmer Becerra, made the score 3-0 in the sixth, and John Mora's sacrifice fly later in the frame tacked on the final run.

Nick Longhi, Joseph Monge and Jordan Procyshen collected the Drive's three hits on the night, with Monge's double the only extra-base hit.

The Drive will send RH Jeffry Fernandez (1-5, 5.14) to the mound on Saturday as they aim to break their four-game losing streak, and RH Corey Oswalt (3-2, 4.78) starts on the hill for the Sand Gnats.
