Grand Rapids Gold News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Grand Rapids Gold, the NBA G League affiliate of the Denver Nuggets, announced today the start of its NBA Cares Season of Giving presented by Family Fare - part of SpartanNash's family of retail stores - a program designed to impact local communities using the resources and reach available to the NBA and its teams. The league-wide initiative runs throughout the month of December and allows the Grand Rapids Gold to formally partner with local organizations providing vital resources to communities throughout Grand Rapids.
"NBA Cares Season of Giving is one of the most important and fulfilling initiatives our team has the opportunity to engage with each year," shared Steve Jbara, president of the Grand Rapids Gold. "We'll jump at any chance to brighten the holidays for children and families in our community."
The Grand Rapids Gold will partner with Priority Health to support maternal and infant health and highlight the work of MomsBloom on Friday, December 3, during its "Season of Giving" theme night against the Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks. MomsBloom provides in-home postpartum support to new mothers in the Grand Rapids area. All proceeds from the evening's jersey auction will help MomsBloom connect families with newborns to committed volunteers looking to provide postpartum care.
On Saturday, December 4, the Grand Rapids Gold will partner with University of Michigan Health-West to honor healthcare heroes in Grand Rapids at its "Healthcare Heroes and Holiday Hats" theme night. All proceeds from the evening's jersey auction will support the University of Michigan Health-West Foundation, which strengthens professional development and makes care more accessible for neighbors within Grand Rapids. Holiday hats will be given to the first 500 fans.
The Grand Rapids Gold will also partner with The Children's Foundation on Wednesday, December 15, during its home game to highlight the work of the Children's Healing Center in Grand Rapids. The Children's Healing Center is a year-round recreational center for children who have weakened immune systems. Their work is supported in part by The Children's Foundation, a premier community-based foundation focused on the health and well-being of the children and families by working in collaboration with other organizations in the community.
Finally, the Grand Rapids Gold will partner with its NBA Cares Season of Giving partner, Family Fare, to cover the costs of groceries for individuals and families within the Grand Rapids community. Head Coach Jason Terry and his team will visit Family Fare locations throughout Grand Rapids, surprising shoppers and ultimately paying for their grocery bill.
The 2021-2022 season promises to be an entertaining - and giving - one for Grand Rapids. For more information on single game tickets, group tickets, season memberships, and flexible ticket packages, click here or call 844-9GR-GOLD.
