Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

A night after Grant Lavigne hit the first home run of his professional career, he slugged his second in the Grand Junction Rockies 5-2 win over the Orem Owlz Saturday night at UCCU Ballpark.

Lavigne's homer came with two out in the eighth inning on a full count following a Niko Decolati walk. He finished the night 2-for-4 with three RBI as the Rockies avoided losing a fourth straight game, improving to 7-9 on the season.

The Rockies led the entire way thanks to a first inning 2-out rally. After Coco Montes singled to extend his hitting streak to 12 games, Decolati tripled him home. Lavigne made a 2-0 with an RBI double.

The Owlz scored an unearned run off Alfredo Garcia in the fourth, but that's all they managed against the Rockies left. In six innings he allowed that run on three hits while striking out four.

Rayne Supple retired the Owlz on seven pitches in the seventh, and the Rockies increased their lead in the eighth as Will Golsan singled for the Rockies first hit since the first inning and came around to score with the help of three wild pitches.

Supple surrendered a run in the bottom of the inning, but Alexander Martinez earned his fourth save by tossing a 1-2-3 ninth.
