Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

MISSOULA, MONT - In conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Missoula Osprey announced Sunday the addition of catcher Douglas Lanza and infielder Alex King to the roster. Catcher Zack Jones has been transferred to Hillsboro.

Lanza began the 2018 season with the DZL D-backs where he played in four games before transferring to the AZL affiliate. After one game, Lanza has been transferred to make his debut with the Osprey. The 20-year-old catcher signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks in September of 2015 out of Cumana, Venezuela. He has appeared in 86 games during his career, accumulating 27 runs batted in and 21 runs scored.

The Osprey also welcome the Diamondbacks 35th round draft pick in 2018, Alex King. The infielder led the St.

Louis Bilikens offense in home runs with 15 and runs batted in with 53 this spring. King started all but four games in his collegiate career, making an impact from the first season with the Bilikens. King drew 35 walks to boost his on-base percentage to .394, and he finished his senior season with a .288 batting average. In his final two seasons, he blasted 23 home runs and drove in 86 runs. King hit .288 or above in three of his four seasons, hitting a career-best .294 in 2017. King has split time between Hillsboro and the AZL this year, batting a combined .281 with 32 at-bats.

The Osprey return to action Sunday for a double-header vs. Billings starting at 5:05 pm. The gates at Ogren Park Allegiance Field are slated to open at 4:30 pm. The Selway Armory Pregame Show begins at 4:45 p.m. on ESPN 102.9 and the MiLB First Pitch App.
