MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers, dropped a pitcher's duel in the finale of a four game series with the Lynchburg Hillcats, 2-1, Thursday in front of 3,682 at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.

The game pitted the best pitchers for each team, Cody Buckel and JR Graham. The same duo faced off against one another on May 23rd, a 2-1 Hillcats Victory. This time through history did its best to repeat itself. Graham took the win, his Carolina League best seventh, going seven innings and allowing a run on four hits while striking out five. Buckel suffered his third loss, allowing two runs in five and two thirds. It was the third time this year Buckel has allowed more than one earned run.

Lynchburg scored its pair in the third and fifth in identical fashion. Catcher Braeden Schlehuber began both innings with singles. He was sacrificed over by Emerson Landoni both times with bunts. Nick Ahmed singled him home in the third and Mycal Jones did the honors in the fifth.

Myrtle Beach picked up its lone run in the sixth inning after a leadoff double from Cafe Martinez. The outfielder scored two batters later on an infield single from Tomas Telis. The ball traveled no more than 50 feet with Graham unable to field the ball off the mound's left. It was Telis' 21st RBI of the season.

The loss drops Myrtle Beach to 30-29 with a roadtrip to Carolina on the horizon this weekend. Randy Henry makes his first start of the season for the Pelicans at 7:15 Friday. Pelicans Pregame begins at 7pm on FOX Sports 1050 AM and 101.9FM. For more information visit online at Myrtle Beach Pelicans.com.
