Hershey Bears News Release

A combination of outstanding special teams and timely goal scoring gave HERSHEY a 4-3 regulation win Friday over the Manitoba Moose at MTS Centre in Winnipeg.

The BEARS came out roaring Friday with two goals in the first 2:09. Brian Fahey started the scoring with his 3rd goal of the season, a shot from the blue line just 43 seconds into the game. HERSHEY'S second shot of the game also slipped past Manitoba goaltender Eddie Lack, as Nikita Kashirsky provided the offense. Kashirsky, who played for the Moose last season, scored his second of the year at 2:07 to make the score 2-0 early on. Manitoba would move within a goal before first intermission when Sergei Shirokov scored against Dany Sabourin. The Moose fired eight first period shots to HERSHEY'S seven.

The Moose and BEARS traded goals in the second period, leading off with Kevin Clark's tally at 16:56 of the period. With HERSHEY on the power play in the closing moments of the period, Andrew Gordon scored his 17th goal of the season at 18:08. The goal, from Kyle Greentree and Keith Aucoin, gave the Chocolate and White a 3-2 lead after two. Manitoba would again tie the game in the third when Mark Flood scored at 8:25, but the BEARS would save the best for last. With a late tripping call on Manitoba's Shawn Wellar, Gordon would tip a Lawrence Nycholat shot past Lack for the eventual game-winner with 24.7 seconds left. The win was the ninth of the season for Sabourin, and gave HERSHEY its 22nd win of the season.
