
Gordon Almost No-Hits Warriors in Patriots' Shutout Win

Bridgewater, NJ- Derrick Gordon (5-0) had a no hitter broken up after 7.2 innings as the Somerset Patriots defeated the Road Warriors 5-0 at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday evening.
The Patriots took an early 1-0 lead in the first after Joe Holden singled and Josh Pressley drove a single to right field to score him.
Somerset added to their lead with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Norris Hopper started it off with a double, Holden followed with an RBI single, and Fernando Cortez drove an RBI single of his own to make the score 3-0.
The Patriots tacked on another run the following inning after Pressley walked and scored on an RBI single by Dan DeGeorge for the 4-0 advantage.
An RBI double by Mike Hernandez in the bottom of the seventh brought home the fifth run of the game for Somerset.
Gordon picked up his fifth win in as many starts after holding the Road Warriors to one hit and striking out nine in eight innings. Road Warriors starter Luke Massetti (5-5) got the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits in six innings pitched.
