Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release
Waldorf, MD - The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs activated outfielder Richard Giannotti today for the second time this season.
Giannotti had been suffering from a strained hamstring that had kept him out all season until he was added back to the active roster on May 25th where he appeared in two games and went 0-2. He reinjured his hamstring in a game against Camden on May 27th.
The former Cardinals and Angels farmhand is entering his third year with the Blue Crabs. He has a career .241 batting average with 19 homers and 165 RBI. His best season was 2009 while with Southern Maryland when he batted .293 with five homers and 39 RBI.
The Blue Crabs will take on the Bluefish in game two of their three-game with a 7:05 start on tonight. The Blue Crabs will send righty Brian Slocum (3-3, 3.55 ERA) to the hill against a to-be-determined pitcher for the Bluefish. The game can be heard on www.somdbluecrabs.com.
