Lancaster Stormers News Release

Former Lancaster left-hander Eddie Camacho held the Barnstormers to one run in 6 2/3 innings on Tuesday evening as the Camden Riversharks tripped up Lancaster, 4-1, in the opener of a three-game series at Campbell's Field.

With the loss, Lancaster dropped into second place for the first time since May 14. York leads by one-half game with a four-game head-to-head series beginning on Friday.

Camacho allowed nine hits but did not walk a batter while striking out two. He scattered four singles over the first 5 2/3 innings to hold a 2-0 lead handed to him on a Brian Burgamy homer in the first. Tommy Everidge crushed his league-leading 13th homer to left center with two outs in the sixth to cut the lead to 2-1. Fernando Seguignol followed with the second of his three singles, and Aaron Herr doubled over Lloyd Turner's head in left to put the tying and lead runs on base. Camacho (4-0) retired Adam Calderone on a grounder to first to hold the lead.

Lancaster threatened again in the seventh. Alvin Colina and newcomer Iggy Suarez opened the inning with sharp singles, and both runners moved ahead on a sacrifice by Ozzie Chavez. Gilberto Mejia was unable to tie the game, popping to second on Camacho's first pitch. Camden went to John Bale, who retired J.C. Holt on a grounder to first after a 10-pitch at bat.

The loss wasted a stellar outing by Cesar Carrillo (2-5), who allowed only three hits and two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings of work. After giving up a leadoff double to Jonel Pacheco and Burgamy's blast in the first, the right-hander wiped out 17 of the next 18 batters he faced. Pedro Feliz broke up the streak with a one-out single to left in the seventh. Macias' chopper to the right side was mishandled by Mejia, putting a second runner on base. Jon Huber replaced Carrillo and got Toby Hall on a routine fly to center. With a count of 3-2 on Turner, the runners broke. Huber bounced the fourth ball past catcher Alvin Colina. Feliz sprinted all the way home for a 3-1 lead.

The final Camden run was produced by Danny Richar's fifth homer of the season, a liner just inside the right field foul pole.

Lancaster and Camden will play the second game of the series Wednesday evening at 7:05. Federico Baez will make the start for the Riversharks against right-hander Matt Wright (1-5). The game will be aired on Fox Sports Radio, 1490, WLPA and streamed live on sportsjuice.com.

NOTES: Carrillo threw his second quality start...Suarez was 3-for-4 in his Barnstormers debut...He was also 3-for-4 in his first game for Southern Maryland...Lancaster did not turn a ground ball double play for the first time in 13 games...They had a runner at first with fewer than two outs in only one inning.
