Gonzalez's Home Run Completes Comeback Win Vs. Cleburne

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Rey Gonzalez launched the go-ahead home run in the seventh, and the Chicago Dogs bullpen held down the fort late to complete a 7-6 comeback win over the Cleburne Railroaders on Sunday afternoon at Impact Field.
Gonzalez's blast was his third of the year, a three-run shot off of Edward Cruz (L, 0-3). It marked the Dogs' sixth straight unanswered run to take the lead.
Although he did not record a hit, David Olmedo-Barrera reached base for the 26th consecutive game with two walks drawn.
Cleburne got to Dogs starter Austin Wright early, putting up three runs in the top of the first. John Nester reached on an error to drive home a run before Zach Nehrir tripled to make it 3-0 Railroaders.
Keon Barnum responded with an RBI single in the bottom half of the frame, plating David Olmedo-Barrera to get Chicago on the board.
The Railroaders doubled their offensive output with three more runs in the third, courtesy of a two-run homer by Nester and solo homer by Ryan Brett to give Cleburne the 6-1 advantage.
The Dogs chipped away with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. After the first three batters loaded the bases, Gustavo Pierre beat out an infield single to send a run home and get Chicago within four. With the bases still loaded two batters later, Olmedo-Barrera drew a walk to bring the Dogs within 6-3.
Australia native Luke Wilkins (W, 1-0), acquired by the Dogs on Sunday, entered in the sixth and dazzled in his debut by hurling two shutout frames. He allowed two hits and one walk to go with two strikeouts, keeping the Dogs within striking distance.
In the bottom of the sixth, Chicago loaded the bases once more to bring up Barnum, who grounded into a fielder's choice to score another run, closing the deficit to two.
The Dogs continued with their comeback into the seventh. Dugan led off with a double and Pierre singled to bring up Gonzalez, who demolished the go-ahead homer over the left field wall.
Casey Crosby worked a 1-2-3 eighth inning to secure the Dogs' lead heading into the ninth, where Kyle Halbohn slammed the door for his tenth save of the season.
LHP D.J. Snelten will start the series finale tomorrow evening, with first pitch set for 7:05 PM.
