AA Texas AirHogs

Gan Quan Struggles Early, AirHogs Fall 11-7

July 28, 2019 - American Association (AA)
Texas AirHogs News Release

The AirHogs again jumped out to an early lead, this time going up 1-0 after a first inning sacrifice fly from Javion Randle. Unfortunately for the AirHogs the hour plus rain delay clearly bothered Gan Quan as the Explorers scored 7 runs in the first two innings before winning 11-7.

After scoring in the first inning the AIRHogs held a lead for just one pitch. On the second pitch from Gan Quan Kyle Ren lead off the home first with a game tying homer. The Explorers added two more in the first and four in the second to knock out Gan Quan after just two innings.

The AirHogs used a pair of oneout hits from Jonathan Moroney and Stewart Ijames to add a run in the 3rd, cutting the lead to 7-2 in favor of the Explorers.

Tu Jialun followed Quan onto the mound and provided four innings of 2 run relief. Only one of the runs was earned.

The AirHogs would rally late, adding two runs in the 7th, one in the 8th and two in the ninth. The rally in the ninth almost continued if not for an amazing play from Jose Sermo on a ball scorched up the middle off the bat of Javion Randle.

The AIRHogs has plenty of offensive highlights tonight with Ijames and Moroney both collecting 3 hits. Erik Manoah came off the bench and went 2-2 with a double and an RBI. But in the end the starting pitching let the team down tonight.

The AirHogs and Explorers are back at it again tomorrow at 7:12 pm. The AIRHogs will send Zach Lemond to the hill hoping to stop the 5 game slide.

Individual tickets for the 2019 season are on sale now. Visit AirHogsBaseball.com for more information.
