Winnipeg 3, Fargo-Moorhead 1 - Box Score
Winnipeg scored two runs in the fifth inning to take a 3-0 lead and that would make the difference in the ballgame as the Goldeyes defeated Fargo-Moorhead by the score of 3-1. With the victory, Winnipeg swept the two-game series from the RedHawks and have now won seven contests in a row.
The Goldeyes collected 10 hits as a team with three batters collecting two of them. Winnipeg RF Tyler Hill went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI while SS Adrian Marin contributed two hits in three at-bats along with a run scored. First baseman Kyle Martin also chipped in a two-hit game for the Goldeyes.
Winnipeg pitcher Christian Torres tossed three scoreless innings of relief and earned the victory. The Faulkner University product allowed a hit and two walks to along with two strikeouts. With the win, Torres is now 1-0 on the season.
Fargo-Moorhead CF Devan Ahart had a 1-for-4 day and scored the team's lone run.
Gary SouthShore 14, Milwaukee 9 - Box Score
Shortstop Marcus Mooney launched a grand slam in the fourth inning to give Gary SouthShore a 10-4 lead and that would be more than enough to help the RailCats get past Milwaukee, 14-9.
Mooney had a tremendous day at the plate going 4-for-5 with two runs scored and six RBIs. Along with Mooney, 1B Alex Crosby had two hits, including a home run, along with two runs and two RBIs while RF Colin Willis plated three runs and walked four times in a 1-for-2 day. In total, Gary SouthShore collected 14 hits in the contest.
RaliCats starting pitcher Seth Hougesen threw five innings of work and notched the victory. The southpaw gave up four earned runs on five hits and walked a batter. Hougesen improved his record to 1-1 with the win.
For the Milkmen in the loss, CF Adam Walker went 4-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Walker's blast was one of four Milwaukee hit in the game.
Lincoln 7, Sioux Falls 5 (Top 4 - Suspended/Rain)
The game between Lincoln and Sioux Falls was suspended due to rain with the Saltdogs leading 7-5 in the top of the fourth inning. The contest will resume at 5:05 PM CT on Monday, July 29and be completed as a nine-inning game. The regularly scheduled game will follow and be scheduled for seven innings.
