Goldeyes Welcome Back Abercrombie

Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the baseball club as acquired veteran outfielder Reggie Abercrombie from the Sussex County Miners in exchange for rookie outfielder Brady Wilson.

Abercrombie, 34, returns to Winnipeg for his second stint with the team after hitting .314 with 19 home runs and 74 RBI in 100 games with the Goldeyes last season. This season, he batted .233 with three home runs and 20 RBI in 45 games with the Miners.

Abercrombie is in his 15th professional season. He was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 23rd round of the 1999 MLB Amateur Draft and reached the major leagues with the Florida Marlins and Houston Astros.

The Goldeyes have 22 players on their roster, including 11 pitchers and 11 position players.

Winnipeg closes an eight-game homestand tonight against the Gary SouthShore RailCats at Shaw Park. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
