Explorers Win Game Two 2-0 In Five Innings

The Sioux City Explorers won game two of the doubleheader by a score of 2-0 over the Lemurs in five innings of play. Explorers starter Ryan Zimmerman did not allow a run in the complete five inning game.

The Explorers scored early, plating a run in the bottom half of the first. X's shortstop Noah Perio Jr doubled with two outs and later scored on a Ryan Court base knock, to give Sioux City the 1-0 lead.

In the bottom half of the third, Matty Johnson reached base on a one out single, moved to second on a grounder to the shortstop, and scored from second off another double by Noah Perio to extend the X's lead by two.

Explorers led 2-0 over the Lemurs after five innings, which went on to be the final score to inclement weather.

Explorers right-hander Ryan Zimmerman (7-2) received the win, pitching the complete five inning game, allowing no runs, three hits, one walk with four strikeouts. Laredo's left-hander Jon Jones (0-1) was charged with the loss allowing two runs in 2.2 innings.
