Goldeyes Sign Weber, Move Wyatt to Inactive List

WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the signing of outfielder Jon Weber.

Weber, 33, has played the last four seasons at the Triple-A level. In 2010, he hit .257 with a home run and 16 RBI in 68 games between Toledo (Detroit Tigers affiliate) and Scranton-Wilkes Barre (New York Yankees affiliate). A product of Lakewood, Cali., Weber had two and a half productive seasons in the Tampa Bay Rays organization from 2007-2009 with Triple-A Durham. He 2009 he posted a .302 batting average, with 14 home runs and 69 RBI in 117 games. A year prior in 2008, he had 13 homers and 51 RBI.

In total, Weber has played parts of six seasons at Triple-A. In 479 games at that level, he has 40 home runs, 447 RBI and a .280 batting average.

His pro career has included three different stints in independent ball with the rival Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.

During his 12-year career, he has been signed by eight different Major League organizations, including the Cincinnati Reds, Oakland As, Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers.

In two other moves today, the Goldeyes have assigned outfielder Jonathan Wyatt to the inactive list and released right-handed pitcher Erick Carrillo, who was on the inactive list.

The Goldeyes have 21 players on their active roster, including 11 pitchers and 10 position players.
