Published on June 14, 2011 under American Association (AA) News Release

Fargo-Moorhead 10, Gary SouthShore 1

With the RedHawks offense clicking all night, Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher Jake Laber took care of Gary SouthShore batters nearly as efficiently, pitching a one-run complete game and allowing six hits and two walks with five strikeouts. The win brought his record on the season to 4-1 and lowered his ERA to a league-dominating 1.33. RedHawks leadoff RF Michael Coles set up the Fargo-Moorhead offense all night, singling in his first at-bat and finishing the game 3-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Joining Coles in the multi-run club for the RedHawks were 2B Carlo Cota, LF Jason James and C K Zimmerman, each of whom had two hits and two runs scored. James also had three RBI thanks in no small part to his two-run homer in the fourth inning. The RailCats scored their lone run when 1B Mike Rohde crossed home plate on a double-play in the fifth inning.

Wichita 6, Shreveport-Bossier 2

Wichita DH Josh Workman put his club on top early in Tuesday night's contest, knocking a two-run homer over the outfield wall, plating himself and Jorge Delgado. Workman finished 2-4 with a run and two RBI while Wichita remained on top for the rest of the game and took a 6-2 victory. Wingnuts starting pitcher Nick Singleton handed the game over to the bullpen after seven innings of two-run ball in which he struck out eight Captains batters. With the win, Singleton now has a team-high eight wins and 47 strikeouts, ahead of Ryan Hinson in both categories. Shreveport-Bossier 1B Andres Rodriquez batted in the Captains' sole runs of the game in the sixth with a two-run homer.

Amarillo 13, El Paso 0

Sox starting pitcher Travis Lawler could do no wrong Tuesday night, throwing a complete-game three-hitter and watching his offense rack up the runs. Lawler struck out 11 Diablos batters ‚¬" more than half of his season total heading into the contest ‚¬" while surrendering just three bases on balls. Lawler's ERA shrunk to 3.38, good for second on the team. At the plate, the Sox didn't mess around, scoring early and often with 3B Van Pope's first-inning homer putting his club on top, 3-0. Already leading 5-0 in the sixth, Amarillo pushed eight runs across to put the game all but out of reach for El Paso. Pope finished the contest 3-4 with two runs and four RBI.

Grand Prairie 4, Fort Worth 2

The AirHogs and Cats each picked up 11 hits Tuesday night, but Grand Prairie did more with its base runners, picking up a 4-2 victory. After the Cats pulled even with Grand Prairie at two runs apiece in the bottom of the fourth, the AirHogs went on top for good on a Tyler Henley sac fly to center field in the sixth. On the mound it was a team effort for Grand Prairie, with four hurlers registering at least one inning. Starter Bo Schultz left after a difficult start to the fourth in which he gave up a single followed by a two-run homer from Cats DH John Alonso. The man who took Schultz's place, reliever John Fulton, earned his first win of the season, throwing four shutout innings and allowing just two hits and a walk.

Sioux City 9, Kansas City 6

T-Bones leadoff man Keanon Simon gave his team a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the first at-bat of the game, and Kansas City maintained and built on that advantage over the first five frames. But when Sioux City's Dustin Jones came to the plate in the bottom of the fifth with the bases loaded and the first tie score since 0-0, the Explorers' CF exorcised the early-inning demons with a three-run double that put his club on top, 8-5. Sioux City went on to win by a margin of 9-6. The bases-clearing triple was Jones' only hit of the game but came in the most opportunistic of times. In addition to his leadoff homer, Simon scored one more run on a 2-6 night. Explorers stating pitcher Ty Moratz earned the win, his third of the season.

Sioux Falls 4, Winnipeg 3 (10 innings)

Fewer positions are tougher to enter the game than closer in extra innings. That's just what Aaron Cotter did for Sioux Falls on Tuesday night. Making matters worse, the first batter he faced ‚¬" Winnipeg's Victor Ferrante ‚¬" rocketed a solo home run over the outfield wall. But Cotter calmed his nerves and proceded to retire the next three batters, preserving his club's win and earning his fourth save of the season. Sioux Falls doubled its run production from the first nine frames in the 10th when Francisco Leandro singled in teammates Mark Shorey and Gus Milner. Leandro went 2-4 on the night with and three RBI. Winnipeg CF Kody Kaiser went 2-4 with a run in the losing effort.

Lincoln vs. St. Paul (Postponed)

The game between Lincoln and St. Paul was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Wednesday with Game 1 beginning at 6:05 p.m. Both games will be seven innings.
