
Laber's Complete Game Topples RailCats

FARGO, N.D. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats suffered a 10-1 loss to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Tuesday night. The loss marked the third in a row for the RailCats, matching the longest streak of the season.
Fargo-Moorhead opened the scoring with a single run in the bottom of the third. Kole Zimmerman led off with a double, was sacrificed to third, and crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly from Mike Coles. The RedHawks put three more on the board in the fourth. Jason James capped the scoring in the frame with a two-run homer to right off RailCats starter Jack Frawley.
Fargo starter Jake Laber allowed only one unearned run in the game, a single tally in the top of the fifth. Lorenzo Scott led off with an infield single and moved to third when Kyle Haines singled. Scott scored unearned on a double play. The onslaught continued in the fifth and sixth for the RedHawks with two runs scoring in the fifth and four in the sixth as the lead ballooned to 10-1. Laber pitched a complete game, the first of the season for the RedHawks, striking out five.
Haines tallied a pair of hits in the game for the RailCats, extending his hitting streak to six games. Brad Boyer singled in the fourth to up his streak to eight games, the second longest of the year for a RailCat. The loss marked the first time this season that the RailCats have lost the first two games of a series.
The series concludes with a day game on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. RHP Nolan Nicholson (1-4, 5.91) starts for the RailCats. Fargo-Moorhead has yet to announce a starter.
The RailCats return home on Thursday. A renewed rivalry with the St. Paul Saints gives the RailCats the chance to throw a Mardi Gras style party to celebrate, as U. S. Steel Yard will be transformed into a family friendly version of Bourbon Street! There will be plenty of party surprises all night long and at least one parade so this is a day you sure won't want to miss! Other homestand highlights include Fireworks on Friday, and Bark in the Park on Sunday for Father's Day.
