Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

Coming off their third sweep of the season, the Winnipeg Goldeyes are in danger of being swept for the first time this season.

The Goldeyes (41-25) were downed 8-1 by the Sioux Falls Pheasants (30-36) Saturday night before 1,335 fans at Sioux Falls Stadium. Winnipeg has lost the first two games of the three-game series and will be out to avoid being swept tomorrow night.

Holding a 2-1 lead, Sioux Falls broke the game open with four runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-1 advantage. The Pheasants then added on singles in the sixth and seventh innings to finish the scoring.

An RBI single by Price Kendall in the second inning, which scored Ridge Carpenter from second, was the only run Winnipeg could muster in the game.

Kendall's single and a double by Kody Kaiser were the only hits the Goldeyes could manage off Sioux Falls starter Ben Moore.

Goldeyes starter Chris Salamida allowed six runs over five innings to take his second consecutive loss. Both defeats have come thanks to the Pheasants. Moore tossed a complete game for his 10th win of the season.

The final game of the series goes Sunday night at 5:05 p.m. All the action can be heard on Sports Radio 1290, beginning with 55 with Forney at 3:30 p.m.
