Goldeyes Add Rookie Jones

July 23, 2015 - American Association (AA)
Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the baseball club has signed rookie left-handed pitcher Jon Jones and placed rookie infielder Robby Spencer on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of granting his release.

Jones, 25, has pitched this season in the American Association with the Joplin Blasters and Laredo Lemurs. In 12 games with those two teams, including four starts, the product of Lakeland, Florida went 0-2 with a 6.41 ERA. Despite his rookie status, which is dependent on the number of innings pitched in a season, Jones is in his fourth professional season, having also played in the Frontier League and United League.

The Goldeyes have 22 players on their active roster, including 12 pitchers and 10 position players.

Winnipeg begins a four-game series on the road tonight against the Kansas City T-Bones. Game time is 7 p.m. and the game can be heard on Jewel 100.5 FM with Steve Schuster.
