
RailCats Are Blanked to End Roadtrip

Kansas City, KS -The Gary South Shore RailCats were shut out for the second night in a row and the third game in five days 4-0 Wednesday night by the Kansas City T-Bones at Community America Ballpark in Kansas City. The RailCats finished their eight game road trip 4-4 and split both series in Winnipeg and Kansas City.
The RailCats once again ran into a buzz saw as Casey Barnes of Kansas City had another ace like performance for the Bones. The RailCats were held in check for seven shutout innings by Barnes . The T-Bones got the only run they would need in the second inning. Vladamir Frias singled then stole second off of RailCats starter Charle Rosario. Frias would steal third with two outs and come home on a throwing error by RailCats catcher Jaime Del Valle.
The T-Bones picked up two more runs off of Rosario in the fifth with RBI singles from Ryan Cavan and Nate Tenbrink to up the lead to 3-0. In the seventh the T-Bones picked up a sac fly from Jake Blackwood to up their lead to 4-0.
The RailCats offense that began the series in strong fashion was held scoreless for the last 21 innings by the T-Bones pitching staff. The RailCats last scored in the seventh inning Monday of a 10-5 win. Charle Rosario saw his streak of quality starts end at six but still managed to work 5.1 holding Kansas City to only two earned runs on eight hits.
Barnes (3-3) got the win in the series split while Rosario (9-4) was charged with the loss. Aaron Baker worked two scoreless innings for the save his second. The RailCats left on the road trip three games below .500 and return in the same spot and trail Kansas City by six games in the American Association Wild Card race and for second place in the Central Division.
The RailCats return home Thursday night to open a four game series with the Sioux City Explorers at 7:10pm at US Steel Yard. The game can be heard on 95.9 WEFM and online at RailCatsBaseball.com.
