Goldeyes Add Mackintosh
July 22, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced this morning that the baseball club has purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Jason Mackintosh from the Maui Na Koa Ikaika of the Golden Baseball League and he has been signed to a Northern League contract.
Mackintosh, 30, was a perfect 5-0 with an astounding 1.22 ERA in nine games with Maui this season. He started five of those nine games - all of which he won - and had a shutout.
A former non-drafted free agent signee by the Cleveland Indians in 2001, Mackintosh reached the Triple-A level in 2007 when appeared in 28 games with the Tacoma Rainiers - the top affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. He was 2-1 with a 4.69 ERA with Tacoma.
Mackintosh has played at every level of affiliated baseball and is in his 10th professional season after attending the University of Nevada-Reno.
A native of South Weber, Utah, Mackintosh will be the Goldeyes starting pitcher tonight in the series finale against the Lake County Fielders.
Winnipeg has 22 players on its active roster with this move, including 12 pitchers and 10 position players.
Great seats for all Goldeyes games are available by visiting any Ticketmaster location or by calling 780-3333.
