Asheville Tourists News Release

ROME - The Asheville Tourists lost the first three games of a four-game set for the second series in a row after Saturday night's 6-2 loss to the Rome Braves. Asheville has now dropped four straight to Rome and managed only four hits tonight's loss.

The Tourists took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Casey Golden hit his 11th Home Run of the season. The blast went to straight-away centerfield and appeared to be the exact start the Tourists needed.

Nick Kennedy began the game strong for Asheville. The starting pitcher went through the first three innings without allowing a hit. In the fourth, Rome used an infield single and an error to score a pair of unearned runs.

Austin Bernard wasted no time tying up the game with a solo Home Run to left in the top of the fifth. The Braves responded with a Drew Waters solo Home run in the bottom of the fifth.

In the sixth, Rome used a four-hit, three-run inning to break the game open. It was an inning that should have yielded no runs; however, defensive hustle was not in the cards on a certain fly ball that dropped in for a key hit in the frame.

The Tourists did put two runners aboard in each of the final three innings but failed to plate any additional runs. Bernard finished 2-for-2 with a pair of walks to lead the way for Asheville's offense.
