
Late Night Pays off for GreenJackets

Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Greenville, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, won 5-2 against the Greenville Drive on Saturday night.
The start of the game was delayed an hour and a half due to rain. Then in the bottom of the first, there was another rain delay that lasted about 30 minutes. In the end, the game got delayed by rain for more then two hours. The game did not finish till after midnight.
When it was not raining, the GreenJackets continued to play solid baseball. After getting shut down at the plate most of the night, a rally got started in the fifth inning with the GreenJackets down 2-0. Manuel Geraldo and Ryan Kirby both had singles to get two men on base. Orlando Garcia then got hit by a pitch to load the bases for Rob Calabrese. After a passed ball that moved everyone up a base and scored Geraldo. Calabrese hit a triple off the right field wall that gave the GreenJackets a 3-2 lead. Then Nick Hill hit a RBI single to left field that scored Calabrese to make the score 4-2.
In the top of the ninth inning, Manuel Geraldo hit his fourth home run of the season to give the GreenJackets an insurance run and a 5-2 lead.
On the mound, Garrett Cave earned his second win of the season. He went five innings giving up six hits and two runs, while striking out seven. Olbis Parra then came on and got six quick outs to earn his third hold of the season. Then John Russell was brought on for the save. He gave up no hits over two innings pitched and earned his second save of the season.
The GreenJackets have now won five in a row. They will be back in action tomorrow night against the Drive at 4pm.
The GreenJackets will be back at SRP Park starting the May 21st against the Charleston Riverdogs! Bring your furry friends for the first bark in the park! On the 22nd, we will have baseball bingo and a Senior Health Expo! The next night, will have Hump Day Happy Hour and Big Beers, Brats, and BBQ presented by Maurice's Piggy Park. On the 24th, will Thirsty Thursday and a tribute to teachers!
After the series with Charleston, the GreenJackets will have a four game series with the Rome Braves. May 25th, we will have our halfway to Halloween celebration! On the 26th, will we have the human cannonball shot off before the game. On the 27th, we will have our Mega Memorial Day Fireworks display. On the 28th, we have our Mega Memorial Day Bash! Come out and join us for this awesome 8 game homestand!
