Godbold Selected to Participate in the Home Run Derby

Florence, Ky. - Andrew Godbold has been selected to participate in the 2016 Frontier League Home Run Derby. Godbold will join nine other sluggers from around the league in the event on Tuesday, July 12 with the first batter set to take the plate at 6:35 p.m.
Joining Godbold, who has eight home runs this season for Florence, from the West Division will be league co-leader Nolan Meadows from Normal (13 home runs), Southern Illinois' Steve Marino (nine), Gateway's Craig Massoni (seven), and Evansville's Nik Balog (three).
From the East Division, Joliet's Marc Flores and his division-leading nine home runs will be on display, while Schaumburg's Paul Kronenfeld (eight), Washington's David Popkins (seven), Traverse City's Will Kengor (six), and Windy City's Coco Johnson (four) have also been selected.
The participants will be paired with a 12-year-old from Northern Kentucky in a Pro-Am Home Run Derby. The professionals and amateurs will each receive a timed two-minute round with the highest total score determining the Pro-Am Champions. The 12-year-old will swing for a 220-foot fence set up on the field.
The two highest professional scores from the two-minute first round will advance a three-minute final round, which will determine the Frontier League Home Run Derby Champion. If needed, there will be two-minute tiebreaker rounds.
Tickets are still available for the event and can be purchased for $10 on FlorenceFreedom.com or by calling the Freedom at 859-594-4487. Gates will open at 3:35 p.m. and the event will start at 6:35. Tickets will include admission to both the derby and a Bourbon Fest presented by Verst Group Logistics, which will take place on the concourse. Thirteen different distilleries from across the state of Kentucky will available for fans to taste. The bourbon fest will run from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
After the derby, there will be a postgame autograph session with the Y'All-Stars. For $5, fans can get autographs from all of the 2016 Frontier League Y'All-Stars.

The Florence Freedom are members of the 12-team professional Independent Frontier League and play a 96 game schedule, with 48 home games at UC Health Stadium, located at 7950 Freedom Way in Florence, Kentucky. In 2015, the Frontier League recognized the Freedom as the league's organization of the year and awarded the team with the league's All-Star event. The 2016 season will mark the 13th year the Freedom have played in Florence.
