
Boomers Shut out in Middle Game at Washington

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, managed only five hits in a 5-0 shutout loss at the hands of the Washington Wild Things on Saturday night, the seventh shutout of the year against the Boomers.
Washington scored runs in four different innings to tally the win. The hosts scored in the bottom of the first on a two-out single against starter Seth Webster. Logan Uxa extended the lead to 3-0 with a two-out two-run homer in the fourth. Washington tacked on single runs in the fifth and seventh to account for the final, notching 14 hits to match the most against the Boomers in a game this season. Four of the five runs crossed with two outs.
Webster worked six innings in the loss, his third straight. The righty allowed four runs on 11 hits while striking out four. Washington starter Matt Fraudin walked five and struck out six but did not allow a hit until a fourth inning single from Mark Nelson. The Boomers did not place a runner at third until the eighth inning.
The Boomers (24-27) conclude the final series before the All-Star break on Sunday night at 4:05 p.m. LHP Lars Liguori (0-2, 5.25) starts against RHP Trevor Foss (6-2, 2.66), a Frontier League All-Star.
