The Elmira Jackals announced on Friday that goaltender Jared DeMichiel has been assigned to the club by the AHL's Hershey Bears, completing a deal that sent the rights of forward Brock McBride to the South Carolina Stingrays.

DeMichiel, a rookie from Avon, Conn., is seventh in the ECHL in save percentage (.913) and goals-against average (2.66) and has a record of 14-10-0-0 with the Stingrays in the 2010-2011 season. He had been recalled from South Carolina by Hershey, its AHL affiliate, on Thursday.

As a senior in 2009-2010, DeMichiel posted a 27-10-1 record with a .921 save percentage and a 2.09 goals-against average. DeMichiel was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA East Region as RIT defeated Denver, 2-1, and New Hampshire, 6-2, to qualify for the national semifinals. In his four seasons at RIT, DeMichiel went 41-19-2 with a .908 save percentage and a 2.36 goals-against average.
