Aces Trade Gaudet to Ontario
March 11, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
The Alaska Aces have traded defenseman Craig Gaudet to the Ontario Reign in exchange for future considerations, Head Coach Brent Thompson announced on Friday. The first-place Aces have a two point lead over the Las Vegas Wranglers for the top spot in the Western Conference. They put their three-game winning streak on the line Friday night when they host the Victoria Salmon Kings in the middle of a three-game set. For more information, please contact the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.alaskaaces.com or on their Facebook page.
Gaudet, 25, is in his rookie season after playing his college hockey at St. cloud State. In 19 games this season with the Aces, he had one goal, two assists, and 16 penalty minutes. His lone goal was the first of his professional career, and was the game-winning tally in a memorable 5-4 win over Bakersfield on Jan. 28th.
In additional Aces news, captain Scott Burt has been suspended one game by the ECHL. He will miss Friday night's game, and will be eligible to return to the lineup on Saturday for the series finale against Victoria. The Aces also announced that forward Jerad Stewart and defenseman Russ Sinkewich have both been activated off the 21-day IR. Stewart has been out since Jan. 22nd and Sinkewich's last game was on Jan. 16thin Las Vegas. In an additional roster move earlier this week, Aces netminder Gerald Coleman was returned to Alaska from Peoria of the American Hockey League on Wednesday, and served as the reserve netminder in the game. Coleman was called up to Peoria on Feb. 17th, but did not appear in a game for the Rivermen. His last action came on Feb. 16th in a 31 saves victory at Utah.
The Aces will remain home to continue the three-game set with Victoria on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are on sale now.
