Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced on Friday that goalkeeper James Pantemis has been loaned to Canadian Premier League club Valour FC, in Winnipeg, for the 2020 season.
Pantemis, 23, has been part of the Impact's first team in MLS for the last two seasons, after signing his first professional contract with the club in November 2017. He helped the team win the 2019 Canadian Championship, starting and winning two games during the tournament. He made his professional debut on July 24, 2019, in a 1-0 clean sheet against York9 FC.
Originally from Kirkland, Pantemis joined the Academy in 2014, coming from Lakeshore SC. He played with the Impact U18 for two seasons, before joining FC Montreal in the USL in 2016, playing two games.
Pantemis has been selected four times by the Canadian national team, for training camps and international competitions, but not appearing in any games so far. He was first called up to the Canadian U15 team in 2012 and played with the U16, U17, U18 and U20 teams. He represented Canada at the Toulon tournament in 2018 with the U23, earning Canada Soccer's 2018 Good Hands Award at the end of the year, following an athletic save versus Japan in the tournament.
