PORTLAND, Ore. - Playing their second consecutive home match to open 2020, the Timbers square off against expansion side Nashville SC on Sunday, March 8, at Providence Park. Beginning at 4 p.m. (Pacific), the match features a national television broadcast on ESPN with local radio broadcasts on 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).

Timbers' Form

Portland (0-1-0, 0pts) opened the 2020 season at Providence Park against Minnesota United FC, falling 3-1 on March 1. Diego Valeri notched the Timbers' first goal of the season, his 77th regular-season goal for Portland. The match also marked MLS debuts for Yimmi Chara, Felipe Mora and Dario Zuparic.

Against Expansion Sides

The Timbers have a record of 3-1-1 when playing at home against an expansion team in their first season and are 5-4-2 overall against expansion clubs in their inaugural MLS seasons. When playing an MLS expansion team for the first time, Portland has notched a 4-3-1 record in those eight matches. Sunday's match marks the first MLS match between the Timbers and Nashville. On Dec. 20, 2017, Nashville SC was announced as the 26th team to join MLS.

Scouting Nashville SC

Nashville (0-1-0, 0pts) opened its inaugural MLS season with a 2-1 home loss against Atlanta United FC on Feb. 29, in front of a Tennessee soccer record 59,069 fans at Nissan Stadium. Defender Walker Zimmerman scored the lone goal for Nashville, the club's first in league history. Sunday's match against the Timbers marks Nashville's first-ever away match in MLS history.

Next Match

The Timbers will travel for a road match against the New England Revolution on Sunday, March 15, at Gillette Stadium. Beginning at 10:30 a.m. (Pacific), the match will feature a regional television broadcast on ROOT SPORTS with local radio broadcasts on 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
