Gateway Grizzlies News Release
The Village of Sauget Board is taking the next step for the safety of GMC Stadium. Due to the short response time that fans have in reacting to foul balls, the Village of Sauget has decided to install nets up behind the first base and third base dugouts. The nets will provide safety and comfort to those sitting behind the dugouts and walking on the concourse behind the dugouts.
"I think it is great that the Village Board cares so much about the fans. I want to thank them for helping make GMC Stadium a safer place," said General Manager Tony Funderburg.
The nets will be installed in time for the Sunday's game against the Windy City ThunderBolts.
The Village of Sauget Mayor, Rich Sauget Jr. commenting on the new nets: "The Board has recognized that there was a chance that someone might get hurt, and we need to protect and take care of our fans and spectators. I am very excited about helping to continue to make GMC Stadium one of the best in the country."
