Richmond Roosters News Release
Chillicothe, Ohio - The Roosters rallied again on Friday only to lose a shootout against the Chillicothe Paints 8-7. Richmond scored three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth to take the lead, but the Paints answered with two in the bottom of the eighth to win it. Matt Schweitzer (1-4) was in position to become the Roosters all-time wins leader, but he couldn't close the door on the Chillicothe hitters.
Chillicothe's Chris Tuttle, a former Rooster from earlier in 2004, scored the tying run on a Tony Cosentino single and Dustin Brisson drove in Adrian Gascon for the eventual winning run. Richmond was fueled by a two run blast from Mike Silva in the seventh and Silva and Eric Archer provided RBI hits in the eighth to score Trevor Hall and Josh Hollingsworth.
Bo Moore started the game for the Roosters and went four innings in his debut from the injured reserve. Mike Gitz (4-3) got the win for the Paints despite allowing two runs and six hits in relief. Ramon Royce (S,12) closed the game with a scoreless ninth inning of work. The Roosters snapped a three game win steak while the Paints have now won six consecutive games.
The Roosters (24-33) will attempt to even the series on Saturday night at V.A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe. The Paints (27-31) will start Mark Hamilton (4-4, 2.20 ERA) and Richmond will counter with Jamie Gonzales (0-1, 5.40 ERA). Game time is set for 6:05pm (Indiana time).
