Washington Wild Things News Release
Washington, PA â The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, took the first game of a double header versus the Otters of Evansville in Indiana Friday night.
The 4-2 victory (first half of a double header) made the Wild Things the first team in the league to advance to 35 victories on the season.
Washington never trailed in the game, scoring two runs in the first and two in the eighth, which was an "extra" inning (two seven inning double headers).
Right hander Matt Powell pitched six innings, but was relieved by Jim Popp (RHP), who took the win, pitching two scoreless innings including one strike out. The victory advances Popp's record to 3-1.
John Cahill went two for four, including the RBI to win the game.
The Wild Things continue their road trip in Evansville through Sunday. They meet the Chillicothe Paints for three games beginning Monday and return home to Falconi Field Wednesday when they host the Kalamazoo Kings.
