Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Between the Pipes: Netminder Kevin Regan started his first game with the Gladiators on Saturday night against the Florida Everblades. Regan posted 19 saves in the losing effort for the Gladiators in his first ever ECHL start in his career. Regan was assigned to Gwinnett on January 15th from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
A Pair: Forward Matt Siddall tied a career best for most goals in a game in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to Floria. Siddall had 2 goals for Gwinnett matching the two goals he collected in a 5-2 win over Mississippi on November 22nd. Siddall now has 8 goals on the season with 4 markers in January alone.
That's Fast! A new team record for fastest three goals by both teams in one game was set in the Gladiators 4-2 loss to the Florida Everblades on January 14th. Three goals were scored in the second period in a span of just 47 seconds eclipsing the old mark of 54 seconds set in 2004. Florida Ryan Lang and Steve McJannett scored just 29 seconds apart and Matt Siddall then scored for the Gladaitors just 18 seconds later to cap the record. The league record for fastest three goals by both teams in one game is 26 seconds.
Called UP! Forwards Adam Berti and Adam Hobson as well as goaltender Kevin Nastiuk were both called up to the AHL last week. Berti and Hobson were recalled to the Rockford Ice Hogs. Florida added their third goal of the game with two minutes left the second and added their fourth of the game at the 1:33 mark of the third to put the contest away. Gwinnett went 1-for-8 on the power play while the Everblades were 1-for-4 on the man advantage.
