ALL-STAR GAME ON DECK: The 2009 ECHL All-Star Game will be played Wednesday night (Jan. 21) at the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA. The Cyclones will be represented by center Barret Ehgoetz, who will make his first appearance in the contest. Ehgoetz will be in the starting lineup and will also serve as one of the assistant captains for the American Conference at the game. Barret will also compete in the Skills Challenge, which will be held Tuesday night (Jan. 20), also in Reading.
MORE EHGOETZ...: While Barret Ehgoetz netted a career-high four goals in the 10-4 win over Wheeling on Wednesday (Jan. 14)--it was his assist in the game that was most noteworthy. It was the 94th of his career as a Cyclone, moving him into first place on the club's career list.
FIRST HALF OVER: The Cyclones finished the pre-All-Star Game portion of the schedule with a 20-15-5 record, good for fourth place in the North Division standings. Cincinnati is five standings points behind Wheeling (no games remaining between the teams in the regular season), three points behind Johnstown (five games left), one point behind Dayton (seven games left), three points in front of Elmira (three games left), four points in front of Trenton (three games left) and 17 in front of Reading (five left). The Cyclones have eight games left outside of the North Division as well.
ABOUT SATURDAY NIGHT...: The Cyclones never trailed, but had several anxious moments in a 5-4 overtime win at Wheeling. Mark Van Guilder's goal from the top of the goal crease 22 seconds into the extra session gave Cincinnati its fourth straight victory. Jimmy Kilpatrick and Van Guilder each had a goal and an assist to pace the offense. Dustin Sproat chipped in with a pair of goals and Brandon Scero had the other score for the Cyclones. Ryan Nie stopped 19 shots to run his record to 4-0 since being acquired by Cincinnati.

Barret Ehgoetz had three goals in the second period to tie a club record. Fourteen different players had points in the game Wednesday night--again, tying a club record.
