
Korchinski Nets Game Winner For Jackals

Reading, PA- The Elmira Jackals started the week with a big 3-2 win over the Reading Royals at the Sovereign Center today. Chris Korchinski netted a shorthanded goal in the late moments of the second period that proved to be the game winner.
The Royals opened the scoring just 1:49 into the first on a goal from Chris Stevens. The Jackals tied the game at 1-1 at the 16:21 mark of the first. Moises Gutierrez netted his 7th of the season with the assists going to Brandon Roach and Pierre-Luc Faubert.
The Jackals picked up their first lead of the game at the 8:32 mark of the second on Derek Couture's 2nd of the season, Doucet and Roach got the assists on the play. The Royals would tie the game at 2-2 at the 14:11 mark when Kirk MacDonald beat Mitch O'Keefe on the power play. The Jackals would then find themselves on a five on three disadvantage at the 17:27 mark. Once the initial penalty to Chris Korchinski expired, he stepped out of the penalty box and took a pass from Steve Yetman. Korchinski's breakaway goal proved to be the game winner.
The third period showcased big saves from each net minder, O'Keefe ended the afternoon with 25 saves. With the win the Jackals improve to 20-16-1-3 while the Royals fall to 13-25-0-2.
