
Gladiators Sign Two Forwards

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have signed forwards Andy Brandt and Bryson Busniuk for the 2007-08 season.
Brandt returns to the Gladiators after completing last season with Gwinnett. The Wausau, Wisconsin native appeared in 4 games with the Gladiators and one playoff game with Gwinnett last season following his senior season at the University of Wisconsin.
The 6-foot-1, 184-pound forward scored 14 points on 5 goals and 9 assists while racking up 50 PIM in 128 games for the University of Wisconsin Badgers. He had a career year in his senior season with 6 points off of 3 goals and 3 assists.
Busniuk joins the Gladiators this year after splitting time last season between the Columbia Inferno and the South Carolina Stingrays. He had a career year last season in the ECHL finishing with 35 points off of 11 goals and 24 assists.
The Thunder Bay, Ontario native began his professional career with the Muskegon Fury of the United Hockey League after completing is final collegiate season at the University of Vermont in 2002-03. He appeared in six games with Muskegon at the end of that season posting 4 points.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound forward split time between the Greensboro Generals and the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League during the 2003-04 season. During his four year ECHL career, Busniuk collected 106 points in 212 career games.
Opening Day in the ECHL for the 20th Anniversary Season will be Oct. 18 when the Johnstown Chiefs host the Wheeling Nailers at Cambria County War Memorial in a rematch of Game 7 from the first-ever ECHL Finals.
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier 'AA' Hockey League in 2007-08, the ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that will have 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-08. The 25 teams includes the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals.
The ECHL will play 900 games beginning Oct. 18 and concluding Apr. 5. The conference and division alignments and the format for the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs will be determined and approved at a later date by the ECHL Board of Governors.
