Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, has agreed to terms with free agent right wing Luke Fulghum (FULL-jum), Thunder head coach Chris Cichocki announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"The opportunity to add Luke's goal-scoring ability and great offensive skill was too good to pass up," said Cichocki. "He significantly upgrades our offensive group and provides a winning attitude with his success in college at Denver. We're also thrilled to add his versatility with his ability to play all three forward positions."

Fulghum returns to the North American game after a brief stint in Finland.

Fulghum, 26, has appeared in 109 career ECHL games while on an AHL contract with the Toronto Marlies, scoring 76 points (39g-37a) with 105 penalty minutes over two seasons (2005-07) with the ECHL's Pensacola Ice Pilots and Columbia Inferno. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound forward has appeared in 23 career AHL games with the Marlies and St. John's Maple Leafs, scoring six points (4g-2a) with 15 penalty minutes.

Selected to the American Conference squad at the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game as a rookie, Fulghum tallied a hat trick and had four points (3g-1a) in the contest, tying the second highest All-Star Game point total in league history.

The Colorado Springs, Colorado native spent four years (2001-05) of his college hockey career at national-power Denver (NCAA), scoring 102 points (51g-51a) in 159 career games. Fulghum helped guide the Pioneers to back-to-back Frozen Four national championships as a 2003-04 junior and 2004-05 senior, registering career highs in points (39), goals (21) and assists (18) in 41 games as a 2004-05 senior while leading the WCHA conference with 20 goals.

"The fan support, the quality of the organization and the arena, combined with other things that go into the city make Stockton a first class and top-notch organization," said Fulghum. "It looks like our team will be highly skilled and fast this year but also strong on defense - something I haven't had a chance to be a part of yet in my ECHL career. I'm looking forward to being part of a team that will make a big statement this year."

Fulghum is one of four players on the Thunder roster with ECHL All-Star Game experience (joining defenseman Beau Geisler, right wing Jesse Bennefield and right wing Brandon Schwartz).
