Phoenix RoadRunners News Release
PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL have announced that rookie forwards Thatcher Bell and Dustin Moore have each agreed to terms on a contract for the upcoming 2007-08 ECHL season.
Bell, 25, completed a four-year collegiate career in 2006-07 at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick by posting 10 goals and 27 points in 28 games. The Murray Harbour, Prince Edward Island native finished fourth on the Tommies in scoring and 19th overall in the Atlantic University Sport Conference. Bell totaled 21 goals, 36 assists, and 57 points in 81 career games at St. Thomas.
Selected by the Vancouver Canucks in round three (#71 overall) at the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Bell averaged 1.35 points per game during a five-year junior career from 1998-2003 between Rimouski and Halifax of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with 117 goals and 305 points in 236 games. Bell was selected to the 2000 Canadian Hockey League Top Prospects Game and later that season helped Rimouski capture the QMJHL Championship and their first ever Memorial Cup.
Moore, 21, tallied 20 goals, 48 points, and 94 penalty minutes in 64 games with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League in 2006-07. In his lone season with the Rebels, the Red Deer, Alberta native finished fourth on the club in scoring and led his team to an appearance in the WHL playoffs.
Moore arrived in Red Deer following a two-year stint with the Olds Grizzlys of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in which he totaled 40 goals, 89 points, and 319 penalty minutes in 109 games.
"We're excited to bring Thatcher and Dustin on board as we get closer to training camp," said RoadRunners Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Church. "Both players add substantial depth to our current crop of forwards, and I expect them to challenge our veterans for ice time."
Bell and Moore join a RoadRunners' roster that already includes forwards Sean O'Connor, Justin Maiser, Cam Paddock, Scott Kelman, Daniel Sisca, Jeff Kyrzakos, Chris Stevens, and Mitch Carefoot; defensemen Dave Pszenyczny, Brian Yandle, Nathan Schwartzbauer, Reagan Rome, and Nick Toneys; and goaltender Cody Rudkowsky.
