Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers® announced that the team has agreed to terms with left wing Shawn Limpright for the 2007-08 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.
"Returning to Las Vegas was an easy decision for me," said Limpright. "It's been such a great place to play and a great organization to be a part of. We have had a lot of success here and I think it's time to make the next step and bring a Kelly Cup to the great fans of Las Vegas."
Limpright enters his fourth season with Las Vegas, becoming only the third player in team history to play a fourth season with the team (Marc Magliarditi and Mike McBain). The 26-year old is poised to become the Wranglers leader for assists and points in 2007-08 and he should also move into second place on the team's games played list. The Manitoba native owns two Las Vegas penalty minute records, including the all-time lead with 358 minutes. Limpright also amassed a single game high of 28 penalty minutes against the San Diego Gulls on December 27th, 2005.
"Shawn Limpright is a player who brings a lot to the ice every night," said Wranglers General Manager / Head Coach Glen Gulutzan. "He will be looked to for leadership this year more so than in years past. Shawn can be a bit of a pest to other teams and he has good playmaking skills. We expect him to be a major part of our success here in Las Vegas this season."
Last season, the left winger scored nine goals and added 31 assist for 40 points in 49 games. Limpright finished first on the team with a +23 rating and second with 126 penalty minutes. In 144 career games in Las Vegas, Limpright has 27 goals and 72 assists. Heading into the 2007-08 season, Limpright needs one point to become the fourth ever Wrangler to reach 100 career points, 21 points to become the team's all-time points leader and five assists to become the team's all-time leader for helpers. Overall, the left winger has played in 308 career games, scoring 73 goals and adding 124 assists with 741 penalty minutes over five seasons.
The Wranglers are expected to make more announcements regarding player signings over the next few weeks. Defensemen Aaron Power, Gerry Burke, Jason Krischuk and Jason Jozsa, as well as forwards Matt Byrnes and Brandon Kaleniecki have all agreed to terms for the 2007-08 season.
